Free fishing weekend encourages families to drop a line.
VICTORIA – Getting families together to enjoy a little fun in the great outdoors while promoting the ancient art of angling is the idea behind a plan that allows a weekend of fishing without the need to buy a freshwater fishing licence, Environment Minister Barry Penner said today.

Message from Alexandra Morton in Norway, disease and sea lice are not under control in Norwegian salmon farms and BC stands to lose all.
I have been in Norway for 10 days because 92% of fish farming in British Columbia is Norwegian owned. I have met with many Norwegian scientists, members of the Mainstream and Marine Harvest boards, been to their AGMs, toured the area with fishermen, examined a closed-containment facility, met the Norwegians fighting for their fish and joined a scientific cruise.

May 23, Sorrento – In order to promote fair chase and proper release on Shuswap Lake, Off The Hook, Sorrento’s Outdoor Store will be holding the First Annual Catch and Release Fishing Derby on Saturday May 23rd.
Sponsors Mandy Davis of Off The Hook and Paul Morris of Rainbow Alley Charters want to host a fun-filled day for fishermen, young and old while drawing attention to local conservation regulations to protect the fish in Shuswap Lake.
So, all you fishing enthusiasts, pack up your favourite fishing gear and bring your boats to the public boat launch at the White Sands Resort, rain or shine!
