The pride and gratitude of all Canadians is due to the members of the Canadian Olympic team for their incredible performances at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games!
Their 14 gold medals broke a Winter Olympic record for most gold medals won by a host country or any country at a single Olympic Winter Games. Seven silver and five bronze brought the total number of medals for Canada to 26.

Port Coquitlam hosts games visitors from Prince George, Salmon Arm.
City of Port Coquitlam.
First Nation youth hockey players from Prince George and a seniors’ curling group from Salmon Arm will enjoy some hometown Port Coquitlam hospitality during the 2010 Winter Games.
The two groups of approximately 20 people each will bed down at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex during the Games: the Salmon Arm group on Feb. 15, followed by the Prince George group on Feb. 17 and 18. The connection between Port Coquitlam and the two other communities was made by Port Coquitlam’s Spirit of BC Committee, which offered to host upon hearing that the visitors needed a place to stay.

Thirty-five B.C. athletes have been named to the Canadian Olympic Team and will have the distinct honour of representing their country at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games on home soil, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

The Olympic Torch came to Salmon Arm today (Jan 27) and it’s hard to remember a time in recent years when an event aroused so much pride, not only in Canada, but also pride in our community. Red-mittened hands waved along the route and folks cheered with all their hearts while the procession wended its way toward City Hall where three thousand smiling faces waited for a glimpse of the Torch.

Salmon Arm plans fabulous stage show to celebrate Olympic Torch.
For months, the City of Salmon Arm has been planning a spectacular welcome for the Olympic Torch relay team and now all is in place and the exitement is growing by the day.
The event will start at 10am in Spirit Square, City Hall, with the flame arriving at 11:13am.
