We know the holiday season is here when the CPR Holiday Train hits the rails once more. Decorated with thousands of Christmas lights, it is quite a spectacle as it winds its way from Rouses Point, New York on November 26th to its final stop in Port Moody, BC. Along the way, the train will have visited 130 communities in eight states and six provinces.

World Pro Goaltending hosts goalie camp in Chase.
World Pro Goaltending will be hosting its camp in Chase, British Columbia next week. Attending the camp are 20 goaltenders from interior BC, although with an elite list of instructors. Instructing the camp will be Tyson Sexsmith (Vancouver Giants / San Jose Sharks), Devan Dubnyk (Springfield Falcons / Edmonton Oilers), Mike Brodeur (Ottawa Senators), Kristen Young (Princeton University Tigers), along with World Pro’s Tyler Love, Derek Purfield, and Paul Kolida.
Tyler Love, co-owner of World Pro Goaltending and goalie coach for the Portland Winter Hawks, will be the head instructor for the camp. Love has previously been the goalie coach for the Prince George Spruce Kings, and coached for Hockey Canada at their World Junior Goaltender Camp.
Antique military vehicles convoy

A tour of antique military vehicles called Freedom Route 3 will pass through the Shuswap area.

Western Command Military Vehicle Historical Society has assembled a large group of former Canadian Military vehicles that will tour the interior of British Columbia during the week of August 9 to 16, 2009. This convoy will be known as Freedom Route Three and is the third such convoy of military vehicles that has taken place since 2005. The first convoy toured the interior of B.C. in 2005 and was a huge success. Displays were put on in each town that was visited with large crowds attending each display. A second convoy toured the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island in 2007 which was also a great success.

Attention all farmers-market venders, crafters, home-based businesses, businesses, and individuals that would like to set up a booth, or clubs that would like to get involved with the Chase Country Corn Festival…
The “Community Picnic” is scheduled to run from 11 – 2 on August 30 at Chase Memorial Park. This is a great opportunity to set up registration booths for clubs/youth groups as it is the last event before the kids go back to school. Booths are $10 (service clubs / groups no charge).

It has been 12 years since Abe Zacharias won his first award for Male Vocalist of the Year for all of the U.S. and Canada including Songwriter of the Year with the Country Gospel Music Association in Knoxville TN. Since then he has won 9 other awards for his songwriting and his songs are receiving airplay in Canada, the US as well as in many parts of Europe such as Italy, Norway and Denmark.
