CBS News - Food riots begin worldwide - April 2008
Introduction by Mi Kai Lee.
BC, like so many other jurisdictions, continues to show its support for one of the most socially distasteful schemes of modern times — to kill off millions, perhaps billions, of people in the third world by reducing the global supply of food.
One of the most under-reported stories in the west today are widespread food riots caused by escalating food prices. Millions have died. The scale of this catastrophe completely dwarfs the Asian tsunami, and yet we have not heard a peep from the media.
Copenhagen ‘fails’, major players make their own deal

Media and environmental groups are describing the Copenhagen conference as a failure. Following resignation of the conference chair, many changes of plans, and widespread inability of delegates to reach agreement on just about everything, by ending time things were in almost complete disarray.
Obama arrived at 9am on the final day, expecting to sign a done deal. But after a marathan session that saw heads of state negotiating until 2am, no such deal was on the horizon. Obama, bent on rescuing the talks and salvaging something, went looking for the Chinese premier, who was reported to have already left. But Wen had not left. He was found in a private meeting with the heads of India, Brazil and South Africa. Obama crashed that meeting, uninvited, and the five sat down to draft their own deal, which they now hope other conference delegates — who have now left — will eventually sign.

Council of Canadians launches Olympic sign campaign.
Council of Canadians.
The Council of Canadians launched a new campaign today by staking signs on the lawn of City Hall to denounce Coca Cola, a worldwide sponsor of the 2010 Winter Olympics. The signs have been released while concerns remain about the suppression of free speech and the right to protest following the City of Vancouver’s recent removal of an anti-Olympic mural and the approval of bylaws that do not allow city licenses for Olympic signs that aren’t “celebratory”.
“While we respect and admire the Olympic athletes we are encouraging an open and frank public discussion on the impact of the Games both as they are taking place and over the long term,” said Bob Ages, National Board Member of the Council of Canadians. “Our concerns go beyond the threats to civil liberties. As the future of the planet hangs in the balance in Copenhagen we hope Canadians will be inspired to think about the Olympic Games within the bigger picture.”

Copenhagen love-in obscures global governance treaty.
While tens of thousands converge on Copenhagen, all anxious to pressure the world into their pet version of climate-change action, the real meaning and purpose of the summit remains hidden. Most think the objective of the conference is to consolidate the many divergent opinions on climate change into a global consensus. But behind closed doors something more is taking place.

RT's Laura Emmet interviews Lord Christopher Monckton, one of the most outspoken critics of global warming theory.
As tens of thousands congregate in Copenhagen with the hope of reaching global consensus on a plan to tackle climate change, others are speaking out against what they call the ‘unsettled’ science upon which global warming theory depends. One of the most outspoken of the so-called ‘deniers’ or ’skeptics’ is Lord Christopher Monckton.
Monckton answers some difficult questions for RT’s Laura Emmet, and in passing makes some interesting comments on the swine flu scare and on the loss of democracy in Europe.

It looks like the mainstream media are finally on WHO’s case, calling for an accounting of what some call a fraudulent pandemic. Bloomberg.com questions whether the whole WHO pandemic was overblown for profit. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601086
Others report that the incidence of swine flu has been declining since late November, and one of Canada’s largest news providers, Canwest, is saying that the flu was a bust and is over. http://www.montrealgazette.com/health/H1N1+pandemic+ending+with+whimper+bang/2304630/story.html
