May 20, Salmon Arm / May 22, Enderby –
A Flora Ware concert is a treat for the senses and Shuswap residents are going to have double the pleasure on the May long weekend as one of the area’s own celebrities comes to entertain her fans, old and new with her “slinky, sexy mood music” straight from the heart.
Armstrong-raised and now Nelson-based Flora Ware has been described as “part jazz diva, part folk singer, part cabaret performer”. Her smooth and dynamic style and almost magical stage presence has won fans wherever she performs.
Her training in acting, music and dance have given Flora grace and confidence not often seen in one who has been described as a “little-known vocal treasure” and “one of the rising jazz talents.” That grace and confidence, along with her smooth vocal style, quickly boosted her into the spotlight when CBC radio aired her CD “Insight” in 2008. A groovy mix of standard and original music, influenced by Latin jazz and Soul/R&B, the album has become a musical timepiece.
Nominated for Best Jazz Artist of the Year in 2008 by the BC Interior Music Awards, she more recently received a GrIndie Award from RadioIndy.com ( http://www.last.fm/music/Flora+Ware/+wiki?ver=2 )
