Penticton (Mar 9), Armstrong (Mar 10), Kelowna (Mar 11,26) –
Vancouver-based quartet, Maria In the Shower are coming to Armstrong, Penticton and Kelowna, as part of their Spring Tour of 2010.
Since 2005, Maria in the Shower has made hundreds of appearances, captivating audiences wherever they’ve performed.
Their work is influenced by American musical history and its roots in ancient ritual. Early swing, blues, folk and jazz blend in what has been described as “folk cabaret” and “inspired by the Vaudeville era”. But it goes far beyond that – magic happens when spectacular theatrical backdrops combine with outstanding musicianship, mime, shadowplay and lighting effects. The result is fun, captivating and nothing less than a performance that is guaranteed to be unforgettable!
Jack Garton, one of Vancouver’s most exciting theatre artists is brilliant on trumpet, accordion and voice. Martin Reisle, composer/arranger extraordinaire, moves the band gracefully from one mood to the next while switching from guitar, to trombone, to cello and voice. The mega-talents of Brendon Hartley on bass and Todd Biffard on percussion, complete the skilled and energetic foursome called Maria In The Shower.
