The 6-member band Earthbound will be performing a benefit concert in aid of the Haiti relief efforts of Doctors Without Borders.
Feb 6, Salmon Arm –
On Saturday, February 6th at 7:30pm, the music group, Earthbound, will be performing a benefit concert for the relief effort in Haiti of Doctors Without Borders. The event will take place at the Seniors Centre, 170-5th Ave. East, in Salmon Arm.
Earthbound performances have a reputation for filling dance floors and laying down good vibes wherever they perform so bring your dancing shoes and be prepared for a fantastic musical treat.
Each of the six members of the group has a different musical background and together they create World/Jazz/Funk magic — a soulful and danceable experience!
Kira Gosselin, whom the group calls Soul Mistress has a wonderful talent for powerful songwriting with intelligent lyrics and a raw and real positive global vibe. “Kira’s voice is like Nora Jones meets Annie Lennox……”, says Leo Bagio of 98.3 Kamloops Best Rock.
Kamloops-born Evan Wilds, singer and songwriter is also amazing on the keyboard, guitar and saxophone. With Peter Mehrfert on brass, Craig McKay on drums, Kevin How on trombone and guitar and his brother, Graham How on trumpet and percussion, the unique Earthbound sound is one you won’t easily forget.
They have received rave reviews at the Komasket Music Festival, Lytton River Festival, Life and Arts Festival in Kelowna, Kamloops Music in the Park, Revelstoke Mountain Beats, the Kamloops Canada Day Celebration, Sun Peaks Mac Daddies and others.
They have opened for Colin James and shared the stage with Ani Di Franco, Long John Baldry. Greg Sczebel. Five Alarm Funk, Arrested Development, Ghost Brothers and D’Talle.
Earthbound’s self-titled debut album with One World Records won Best New Group in the 2007 Okanagan Music Awards. They are now working on their second album and have a busy performance schedule lined up for 2010 as well as being on the air regularly at B100 and CBC Radio 3.
Cost for the Salmon Arm benefit is a $20 donation to Doctors Without Borders.
