Revelstoke early morning crash claims the lives of two.
Revelstoke RCMP.
At approx 2:00 a.m. this morning, Revelstoke RCMP were dispatched to a 3 vehicle motor vehicle collison approx. 25 km east of the City on the Trans-Canada Highway. The initial investigation has indicated that an eastbound semi crossed the centreline and collided head on with a west bound tractor trailer unit.
The 29 year old driver and the 39 year old passenger in the eastbound semi died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Both individuals were from Calgary. The driver of the west bound truck and the driver of a semi following the eastbound truck were not injured in the crash. This third vehicle involved was caught in the debris field which was about 2 kilometers long.
While the cause of the crash is unknown there has been an indication that the eastbound tractor trailer unit was being driven erratically prior to this incident. The highway remains closed at this time (8:32 am).
The Revelstoke RCMP along with the BC Coroner Service and a collsion reconstructionist from the Southeast District Traffic Services are continuing the investigation. Names of the deceased are being withheld pending the notification of their next of kin.
