Ontario skiers die in Revelstoke accident

Two lives claimed in ski tragedy.
Revelstoke RCMP are investigating the deaths of two Ontario skiers, that occurred at the Revelstoke Ski hill.
On January 28th, 2010,Revelstoke RCMP were advised that 3 skiers had entered an area outside the developed area of the ski hill. The party of three then skied into a steep, hard-packed, icy chute. In an attempt to ascend the chute, the party removed their skis. The three lost their footing during the ascent and fell, sliding approximately 100 meters, before going over a cliff.
Two of the three males were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are not being released pending further investigation. All three were from Grimsby Ontario.
NOK have been advised.
Revelstoke RCMP and the British Columbia Coroners Service continue with this investigation and further details are forthcoming.

Update – Sat Jan 30
Investigation this date concluded with the recovery of the two deceased skiers from the scene of the incident. Search and Rescue and helicopters made the recovery in the early morning of January 29th.
The area in which the recovery was made from is very steep with dangerous terrain and sheer ice cliffs. RCMP and the Coroners Office continue with the investigation. Coroner Tim Loader from the B.C. Coroners Office has order autopsies for the deceased.
The following are the victims of this incident:
1. Steve BABB, 47, from Grimsby, Ontario(deceased)
2. Colin BABB, 16, from Grimsby, Ontario, in Vernon Hospital for surgery to his ankle injury.
3. Sam VOGL, 17, from Grimsby, Ontario(deceased)
