Last night at about 1:30 AM (Nov 27) members from the Vernon detachment were called to a report of property items on the front lawn of a residence in the 1500 block of 18th Ave in Vernon. The officers woke the residents to learn that several items were stolen including a TV, a laptop and the 2001 Dodge truck.
The truck was located a short time later in the Enderby area. When officers attempted to stop it the vehicle rammed the police car, nobody was injured as a result. The passenger in the truck was arrested at the scene the driver of the truck took off running. A second person now believed to be the driver was arrested a short distance away, that person was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Alberta and is on court imposed conditions in BC.
Two males a 34 yr old Vernon resident and a 38 yr male also of Vernon remain in custody and are expected to appear in court later today to face numerous charges as a result of their actions last evening.
While our Police service Dog Unit was working in the area attempting to locate the driver of the stolen pick-up, he came across a vehicle driving erratically in the neighborhood he was tracking in. The officer was able to get the driver to pull over and when he spoke to him realized that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A 25 year old male from Enderby is expected to face charges at a later date.
