Nov 20, Kelowna –
Peak Performance finalists – The Painted Birds – to release new single and website.
Salmon Arm natives, The Painted Birds, have been selected as one of the top 20 finalists for The Peak Performance Project. The program – which is financed by Vancouver radio station, 100.5 The Peak, and administered by Music BC – offers BC musicians an opportunity at a $275,000 prize pool, with $150,000 in development funding awarded to the winner.

Finalists are judged on performance, songwriting, marketing, work ethic, and online votes. Fans can vote until November 30th at www.vote.thepaintedbirds.com.
Band frontman, Dominique Fricot, states, “At the beginning of this process, we truly believed that it would be our songs that set us apart. We’ve always felt that we write music that appeals to a large audience and have taken pride in our ability to communicate with our listeners on a personal level. But as we go forward, it’s becoming more and more apparent that our true advantage lies in our willingness to give everything to our passion; to work harder than anyone else and to have absolute faith in our ability to succeed.”
Noted as the finalist that “best fits the format of 100.5 The Peak”, the Painted Birds finally feel they’ve found their roost. Guitarist Josh McNorton was blown away when one of the station’s program directors informed him that the Painted Birds’ single, “Colleen,” had received “100 times the requests” of any of the other finalists’ songs.
As part of their effort to reward their patient fan base and attract new listeners, The Painted Birds have released a brand new single, “Wash Away”, which is available for free download on the band’s freshly redesigned website, www.thepaintedbirds.com.
