Sept 12, Seymour Arm –
If you are looking for a perfect way to wind up the summer activities, bring the whole family to the Seymour Arm Fall Fair on Saturday, September 12th. The Ladies of the Lake and the Seymour Arm Community Association have planned the best event ever!
The festivities will begin with a pancake breakfast from 9-10:30am. From 12-4pm you may purchase local handicrafts and fresh, homegrown produce from the farmers market. There are games for the children and music by local entertainers, with an open mike.
Of course, the judging will be going on all the while. In the food category, which covers pies, cakes, salads, bread, cookies, pickles, jams, and huckleberry anything, points will be given for taste and appearance. All food entries will be served at the potluck supper.
In the produce category, the judges will be looking for quality, condition and uniformity, with a special award for the best overall gardener.
The hot dish category covers international, poultry, vegetarian and a special men’s-only surf or turf (fish or meat) dishes.
There is a homemade wine category, and prizes will be awarded for the largest pumpkin, the largest zucchini, the best centerpiece and the best flower arrangement.
Photography will be judged on local scenes, wildlife and close-up categories.
At 6pm there will be a potluck supper and everyone’s invited! Bring a potluck dish large enough for your family and the supper is free. If you are unable to bring a dish, the cost will be $5.
The awards will be presented after supper, followed by an old-fashioned sing-along around the piano or campfire.
Admission to the fair is $5.00 per person with children under six, $2.50, including entrance, entries and some games.
