RCMP confirm identity of accused arsonist..
The Chase RCMP confirm that 25 year old Pierre Nault of Edmonton Alberta, has made his 1st appearance at the Kamloops Courts today and has been remanded into custody until September 11 2009.
Nault who appeared today, September 2nd, 2009 at the Kamloops court house was in court answering to the charges in connection with the Chase RCMP Detachment’s and RCMP Southeast District General Investigation Section investigation into the recent Central Interior arson spree. The arsons occurred between August 28th and August 30th in the Central Interior communities of Celista, Sorrento and Blind Bay.
Mr Nault is also before the courts on other “recently reported on incidents” which occurred in Kelowna earlier these past weeks.
“Given the seriousness and negative social impact that the allegations that he faces, have had on several BC communities, we are as relieved as are the communities and people involved that sufficient evidence was established to permit us to bring this individual before the courts”, stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.
“The RCMP would like to thank the assistance received and acknowledges that locating Pierre Nault was largely due to the alertness of a member of the community where he was apprehended. The community of Celista can be proud of their area Volunteer Fire Departments, with the exemplary alertness of this particular fire fighter.
All the while working the fire scene at the Sun Beach Store, and out of the corner of his eye recognizes something suspicious in seeing this particular Forestry vehicle and immediately reports it to the attending police officer. It is this type of assistance that the RCMP in communities across British Columbia relies on and seeks in order to effectively carry out it’s duties” added Cpl Dan Moskaluk.
