Vernon RCMP investigate an accident between a truck and an motorcycle.
Just after 8:30 PM last evening (August 19) officers from the Vernon RCMP were called to a report of a motor vehicle accident between a motorcycle and a pick-up truck. The accident happened in the intersection of O’Keefe Rd and Okanagan Landing Rd in Vernon.
The investigation has learned that a Ford truck was making a left hand turn onto O’Keefe Rd from Okanagan landing Rd, when the collision happened between it and the Yamaha motorcycle that was heading towards Okanagan Lake.
The 26 year old driver of the bike was taken to Vernon hospital as he sustained numerous injuries in the accident. He was transferred to Kelowna General Hospital last evening and is in intensive care at the present time. The 22 year old driver of the truck and his passenger were not injured. All three men are from the Vernon area.
The accident remains under investigation by our Traffic Analyst Section. Early indications are that speed might have been a factor in this accident.
